Management Team
Bitext's management team has an extensive experience in linguistic technologies comprising many years of experience both in the business areas as well as the academic area. The members of the team are:
- Antonio S. Valderrábanos - CEO
Antonio has worked in the field of linguistic technology since 1989. Between 1992 and 1997 he worked for IBM Spain, WordPerfect Corporation and Novell Corporation (Belgium). During these years he worked on deploying linguistic technology in fields such as information retrieval, electronic publishing, spelling and grammatical correction, translation, etc. He started consulting services on linguistic technology in Madrid in 1998. Bitext was born out of those consulting and development activities. In the academic field, Antonio has a Bachelor Degree in Philology from the Universidad de Sevilla and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
- Enrique Torrejón - R&D Manager
Enrique has worked in research and development of natural language processing commercial applications since 1989. He has a degree in Spanish Philology from the Universidad de Sevilla (1989), with major in Spanish Linguistics. In 1990 he joined IBM Scientific Center's team of computational linguists to develop an English-to-Spanish machine translation system for software documentation. In 1991, he got a scholarship from La Caixa to study at Carnegie Mellon University, PA (USA) to pursue a Master in Computational Linguistics. He graduated in 1994 and worked for AT&T Business Translation as machine translation specialist. In 1995, he was hired by Carnegie Mellon University's Center for Machine Translation as Spanish Technical Leader in the KANT project. In 2002, Enrique moved back to Europe to work at the Universidad Europea de Madrid in computer-assisted language learning projects using natural language processing technologies.
- Josu Gómez Pérez - Development Director
Josu Gómez Pérez has a degree in Linguistics from Deusto University, where he also studied Computational Linguistics at postgraduate level. He was involved in several research projects in the field of language technologies, such as XML-Bi and XTRA-Bi, both funded by the Basque Government. He is currently Development Director of Bitext, where he coordinates various projects on search engines, document management and text analysis. Some customers profiting from those projects are the Spanish Ministry for Public Administration and the Regional Government of Castilla y León.

- Bill Musgrave
Dr. Bill Musgrave founded Silicon Global in fall 2006 to accelerate global innovation, entrepreneurship education, and to help technology companies from developing regions access the U.S. market, in particular Silicon Valley. Formerly he was the president and CEO of The Enterprise Network of Silicon Valley (TEN) where he spawned a new vision for the support of entrepreneurs and the development of international programs to accelerate innovation and market entry. Prior to joining TEN in 1999, he was a General Manager for DRS Ahead Technology, a supplier of specialty magnetic heads. While at DRS, Musgrave was engaged in corporate acquisitions and business development, and established the company's Minneapolis Division. He also led the acquisition and start-up operations for a factory in Eastern Europe. Formerly, Bill was a career U.S. Navy officer, completing his military service at the rank of Captain. While in the Navy, he managed large-scale business and logistics operations, and as a senior government procurement official, was integrally involved in the formulation and implementation of major government procurement reform initiatives. Dr. Musgrave maintains an active involvement in higher education and has led the initiation of an entrepreneurship center at San Jose State University and has been on the adjunct faculty of a number of universities. He is also a frequent speaker at professional events on entrepreneurship and innovation, and organizational leadership. He has been featured in numerous news journals, and has appeared on BBC Worldwide Broadcast, Silicon Valley Business Radio, and at the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco. He has lectured overseas in Japan at Keio University and Okayama National University, in India at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, in China at South China University of Technology, and has addressed London's Strategic Planning Society and a Connect Midlands conference of investors and entrepreneurs on Innovation in the Knowledge Economy. Bill earned a Doctor of Business Administration degree from The George Washington University's School of Business and Public Management, in addition to a MBA degree from the same institution. He holds a B.S. in Education degree from Texas State University.
- Mary Walker
For the last 10 years, Mary has held various roles as a business manager and management consultant for young internet technology companies in Silicon Valley. She focuses on the intersection of strategy and implementation -- the practicalities of building out a business vision into a high-performing organization. She also has a long-standing interest in the social patterns of online groups. Earlier in her career, Mary was a management consultant with Deloitte Consulting and a banker with Wells Fargo. She has a degree in History from Princeton, a Masters in Anthropology from Cambridge, and an MBA from the University of California in Los Angeles. - Santiago Acaso
Santiago has a degree in Mathematics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and an MBA from ESDEN, Madrid. He is also a Graduate in Strategic Marketing (Boston) and Strategic Marketing from INSEAD (Fontainebleau), Paris. He has been Marketing Director for Southern Europe of Software AG, Area Manager for Southern Europe of SIEBEL, CRM Director for Southern Europe of SAP and General Director of PeopleSoft Ibérica. In addition, he is member of the faculty of "Instituto de Empresa" in the Area of Commercial and Marketing Management as well as Director of the Master Program of Commercial and Marketing Management.
- Emilio García Díez
He has a degree in Industrial Engineering as well as an MBA from IESE. He has been executive in several companies from the BBVA Group and Endesa. It is worth highlighting his role as executive president of BBVA in Puerto Rico (USA) and Country Manager of Endesa in Peru, being also president or CEO of various companies of the group in that country. He is currently member of the board of CREARA (San Telmo Foundation in Seville) and financial advisor and investor in technological small and medium companies.

Press Release: Bitext Delivers a New Solution to Make Easier and Faster All Enterprise Search Engines
Antonio S. Valderrábanos, founder and CEO of Bitext, delivered the talk "Language and semantics: what can you do for my search engine (and for me)?" during the first day of the Online Information 2009 in London, December the 1st, 2009.
Antonio Valderrábanos, CEO of Bitext, will talk about "Natural Language Technologies for Business Intelligence and Search Engines", during the conference Convergence of Business Intelligence and Enterprise Search, which took place at the Hotel Intercontinental in Madrid on November 11th.
Bitext on Expansión: "Las pymes madrileñas hacen las Américas" (in Spanish).
Bitext was one of the twelve companies selected to participate in the business meeting of the Community of Madrid in Silicon Valley, from October 19th to October 23rd 2009, in San Francisco, California.
During the International Conference of the History of the Spanish Language in Santiago de Compostela (September, 2009) the CODEA project was presented. In this project, Bitext is responsible for the viewing and tagging of Spanish documents which are dated before 1700.
