Antonio Valderrábanos

Madrid / San Francisco

Antonio has worked in the field of linguistic technology for over 20 years. He started out at IBM in the early 90s working on the development of spell and grammar checkers. Later, he was part of the Novell team that developed and commercialized the first grammar checker for Spanish in the world. During these years at IBM and Novell Corporation, he also worked in the deployment of linguistic technologies for information retrieval systems and electronic publishing environments.

Antonio founded Bitext in 2008 to provide OEM multilingual semantic technology for social media, text analytics, search and other business areas. In the academic field, Antonio has a Bachelor Degree in Philology and a Ph.D. in Linguistics.

Andrew Paulsen

San Francisco

Andrew is responsible for all aspects of running our business in North America.

His mission is to develop strong relationships with our customers, partners, advisors and investors and to use customer development methodologies to identify new markets, applications and verticals for our technology.

Andrew has over 15 years experience in the text analytics industry and has had the privilege of collaborating closely with some of the worlds most talented software development teams. Software licensing is his passion and he has licensed technology to companies such as Adobe, Airbnb, Apple, Autodesk, Dropbox, EMC, Google, HP, LinkedIn, McAfee, Microsoft, Oracle, Pinterest, Salesforce, Symantec, Yahoo and Yelp.

Andrew has participated in two IPOs, sold his startup to a Fortune 500 company, lead a two sales teams in New York City, opened three sales offices in San Francisco and one in London. He enjoys doing business internationally and has worked with companies in Europe, China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Singapore.

Originally from New York City, Andrew now lives in San Francisco with his wife and two sons.

Tony Jimenez

Palo Alto

Tony is responsible for all aspects in our Global Marketing areas.

His mission as CMO is develop brand marketing strategy, communications, social media, public relations, analyst relations, demand generation, and events.

Equipped with over 15 years of experience as Vice President Marketing / Marketing Director including: Marketing Communications, Inbound Marketing Branding, Business Strategy, Product Launches, and Strategic Initiatives. Strongest attributes are connecting and forming lasting business relationships. Insightful to customer needs & objectives.

Of all the adventures he has taken in this technological world, the biggest has been moving to Silicon Valley, where the best products are born. He has been there for 5 years. He is a Senior Consultant and participate on building big companies like Lightbee, Muwom, (T-online) Terra Networks.

Originally from Spain, Tony now lives in San Francisco

Josu Gomez


Josu is a computational linguist with more than 15 years of experience in language technologies. He is an expert on the Basque language, one of the most challenging languages from a morphological and grammatical point of view. In the late 90s, he was involved in several pioneering public-funded research projects in the field of language technologies applied to Basque.

From the foundation of Bitext, Josu is the main coordinator between the sales team and the technical team. In the academic field, Josu has a Bachelor Degree in Linguistics from Deusto University and has completed Computational Linguistics studies at postgraduate level.

Aurora Santa-Olalla


Aurora has worked in the field of Spanish Language and Linguistics for over 20 years. She started out at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with EUROTRA automatic translation project on the development of dictionaries. Later, she has participated in different projects related to language technologies from the Instituto Cervantes Oficina del Español en la Sociedad de la Información (OESI) and Alfonso X University. Recently, she has worked for Google Spain as linguistic data evaluator.

On the management side, she has been Academic Deputy Director of the Instituto Cervantes and Chief of Translation and Interpreting Studies in the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She has a Bacherlor Degree in Philology and Ph. D. in Linguistics.

Luis Caloto


Luis is a software engineer with extensive research experience in automata languages and natural language processing applications. Since the late 80s, he has been involved in defense industry projects in NATO and has led numerous research and development projects in the fields of multimedia, telecommunications, electronic design, and defense and security electronics in several Spanish companies. He also has an extensive experience as project manager in European-Commission funded projects.

In the academic field, Luis has a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Daniel Benito


Daniel manages the planning and engineering of our new text analytics solutions, building on Bitext’s Deep Linguistic Analysis platform.


Zubin Chagpar


Zubin has over fifteen years of experience working in technology and management for Silicon Valley based companies including Google, VeriSign and Exodus (now CenturyLink). He also was the managing director of the Spain Tech Center, a Spanish government sponsored startup and SME incubator in San Francisco, USA and has made several investments in startups in Europe.

Today Zubin is responsible for Amazon Web Services’ public sector business in the Middle East and Africa. In addition to his role at Amazon, Zubin also is an adjunct professor at IE Business School where he teaches rapid prototyping and market validation. He is also a faculty advisor at Wharton Business School.

Ignacio Fonts


Ignacio has spent most of his career as a senior executive of the multinational Hewlett Packard where he worked 25 years and became Vice President of several businesses both in Spain and the USA where he spent 4 years.

Today he has fixed his residence again in Spain and he is currently Managing Partner and CEO at Inveready Technology Investment Group, one of the more successful venture capital funds in Spain with investments in Seed projects both in Biotech and IT. During the last couple of years, Inveready has sold companies in their portfolio to the likes of Intel Capital, Symantec, Javelin Partners, SmartBear or Ibercom.
